Amy Gear

Amy Gear is an artist and poet from Shetland whose work connects language, landscape, and lived experience. She works across drawing, printmaking, writing, film, and installation, using colour and text to explore how identity and place shape each other.  

Her exhibitions include Works on Paper: Women Artists at Aberdeen Archives, Gallery and Museum (2025–26), Illusive Utopias at Generator Projects (2022), Shapes of Water with Travelling Gallery (2020–21), and solo shows at Look Again Project Space, Shetland Museum and Archives, and Market Gallery.

She studied at Gray’s School of Art and the Royal College of Art, and is co-director and co-founder of Gaada.
